Angry at Generosity?

Remembering a solid Christian angrily asking me what use the gift of tongues was to anyone. Well it has its uses for sure, but what a horrible view of God, that He only does what is useful!

I wonder what sort of gifts that person gave to their nearest and dearest? Only ones that would get the response, “Thanks I was needing that,”? Did they never give something to a loved one that caused uproarious laughter when opened? Did they never give a personalised symbol of love forever treasured as priceless by the recipient, a cause of warmth and joy, but confusing, meaningless or ridiculous in the eyes of everyone else? Never despise the generosity of God. Why are you uncomfortable if He chooses to be generous to anyone…to you?

God bless

I’ve prayed for that gift for many years and had others pray for me – but never received. Felt God thinks I’m not good enough.

You have the gift I believe. In fact I believe we each of God’s children have all the gifts though of course we might not all exercise all of them at any given gathering of the Church. The Holy Spirit is sovereign as to who exercises what gift in any given meeting. That is what Paul says. It is not you haven’t been given it but sometimes no one shows us how to use what the Spirit has given. I began in this way: simply opening my mouth in faith and speaking words I did not understand as a child like step of faith that made no sense to my mind. To my amazement it opened a fresh gateway into other gifts. So trust God, the God who loves you with total love as He does all His children and step out! I found it helpful to have others pray with me and help me in these first steps. God bless! K
